How to Shift Your Thinking and Move Forward
I’m sharing my first observations on 2020. These are the thoughts that have been occupying my mind on a daily basis and keep me moving forward. Show me what you're working on by using #bribooks on Instagram, and @bribookspod on Instagram and @bribookspod on Twitter.
People Think About You for Three Seconds…and Then They Move On.
Remember this: No one else has your brain. Every time you’re on the train, everyone around you is living a crisis. On the highway, each person in each car is starring in their own live-theater production of L-I-F-E. Reflecting on this may help you feel less alone in this human condition, and put into context that where your mind dwells, your energy dwells as well.
Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Have To.
This goes for everything--at work (don’t duplicate work!), at home (don’t’ make things harder for yourself!) Knowing what you’re capable of is its own reward. For example, imagine if you were driving to a store a mile away, with a full tank of gas. You wouldn’t exhaust your entire tank to drive just one mile, of course. However, you technically could—it just wouldn’t make any sense. Envision your time in the same way—drive to where you need to go (use the energy necessary), be efficient, and conserve resources.
Read Widely and Develop Curiosity.
Seriously, practice being curious. If you wonder how something works, FIND OUT. I love learning about history, and I’m getting into the habit of any time I don’t know something, I source a book about it from the library or consult my personal library for a resource. An example of these resources is the books I mentioned in my ‘Best Skincare and Beauty Books for Beginners’ episode.
You. Have. Food. At. Home.
That’s it. That’s the tip.
Audit Your Time (Realistically!)
I credit this tip to entrepreneur, influencer and investor @Patricia Bright who guest-starred on Bri Books season 5episode 1, “Hearth and Hustle,” discussing her fantastic book.
